The Scorpions could reunite with their fans next June. The Gambia Football Federation has announced that it is in advanced negotiations to organize two home friendlies against Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau at Independence Stadium.
After the high-profile clash against Iran in May, Gambia is eager to return home. The Gambia Football Federation stated that it is “in advanced stages of negotiations” to schedule two friendlies in June against Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau.
This move carries a symbolic weight: these matches would mark the longawaited return of the Scorpions to Independence Stadium in Banjul after a lengthy absence.
While the opponents have been identified, the federation clarified that full details—including dates, kick-off times, and ticketing procedures—will be announced to fans once final agreements are in place.
If all goes as planned, the June 2026 FIFA window could witness the muchanticipated return of Gambian supporters to the stands.
