Musa Jammeh promises new era for Gambian football ahead of GFF race

By Adama Makasuba

As the race for the leadership of the Gambia Football Federation gathers momentum, Musa Jammeh is positioning himself as a visionary determined to transform Gambian football and elevate the country’s status on the international stage.

Jammeh, whose name is increasingly being mentioned in discussions surrounding the upcoming GFF elective congress, says Gambian football has the potential to become a respected force in African football if given the right leadership, direction, and investment.

Supporters describe him as a leader with passion, commitment, and a deep understanding of the game, not only as a sport but also as a key part of Gambian culture and national identity.

According to his camp, Musa Jammeh’s vision focuses on strengthening grassroots football, improving player welfare, empowering clubs, and creating stronger opportunities for young talents across the country.

They believe his proposed programmes are aimed at building sustainable structures capable of improving the overall standard of football in The Gambia.

“Musa understands what players need, what fans expect, and what stakeholders want to see in order for football to flourish,” one supporter said.

Backers of Jammeh argue that Gambian football can achieve greater success regionally and internationally through proper planning, transparency, and investment in youth development.

They also insist that his leadership would bring renewed energy and ambition to the federation at a time when many football stakeholders are calling for growth and reforms within the game.

With anticipation building ahead of the GFF elections, Musa Jammeh’s supporters say they remain confident that his leadership could usher in what they describe as “a new era” for Gambian football.
