The Police Intervention Unit (PIU) in Brikama, through its Special Response Team (SRT), on Monday, April 27, 2026, conducted a targeted operation in the Durmakolong area following a viral video alleging the assault of police officers.
The operation aimed to verify the claims, identify those involved, and restore order. A total of ninety (90) individuals were apprehended and taken to the PIU Brikama base for screening.
Following the exercise, twenty-four (24) foreign nationals were handed over to the Gambia Immigration Department for further processing, while others remain in custody pending further police action.
The Gambia Police Force continues to uphold law and order and urges the public to cooperate with ongoing security operations.
