Police investigate death of unidentified teenage girl

The Gambia Police Force has launched an investigation following the discovery of the body of an unidentified teenage girl believed to be between 14 and 15 years old.

Police said the deceased was found under circumstances that are currently being investigated, with authorities appealing to the public for assistance in identifying her.

The body has since been evacuated to the mortuary at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul pending identification and further investigations.

According to police, members of the public with information that may help identify the girl are encouraged to contact the nearest police station.

Police also stated that a photograph of the deceased is being shared strictly for identification purposes as efforts continue to trace her relatives and establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
