Minister Drammeh calls on Foday Kunda residents to reject opposition messaging

The Minister of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly Matters, Honourable Musa Drammeh, has urged residents of Foday Kunda to disregard opposition messaging, arguing that rival political parties have failed to present concrete and practical proposals to improve the lives of citizens.

Hon Musa Drammeh made the remarks during a meeting held in Foday Kunda and addressed by President Adama Barrow, which also formed part of the official launch of new road development projects in the area.

Addressing residents, Honourable Musa Drammeh called for continued support for President Barrow, insisting that the opposition’s criticism lacked substance and direction.

“They are telling you not to support a third term for President Barrow, but even in our culture, you do not abandon a good partner. Barrow has delivered for The Gambia, and we should stand by him,” he said.

The Minister of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly Matters further encouraged voters to turn out in large numbers on December 5, urging them not to be influenced by what he described as “intangible criticisms” from opposition parties.

Honourable Musa Drammeh highlighted several government interventions in Foday Kunda and surrounding communities, including road infrastructure development, improved access to clean water and electricity, healthcare delivery, agricultural support such as fertilizer distribution and better groundnut prices, as well as ambulance services.

“You have received what you asked for—what is it that you are lacking?” he asked the gathering.

He also criticized the opposition’s campaign approach, suggesting that political parties confident in their support should prioritize structured regional engagements rather than mass political rallies.

Honourable Musa Drammeh concluded by urging eligible residents who have not yet obtained voter identification cards to do so, emphasizing that active voter participation remains essential for sustaining development gains, including continued access to basic services such as roads and electricity.
