By Adama Makasuba

President Adama Barrow has sworn in members of the Lands Commission and the Local Government Service Commission, urging them to ensure fairness, accountability and efficiency in service delivery.

The ceremony, held at State House, is part of government efforts to strengthen land governance and local administration structures in the country.

The Lands Commission is chaired by Ramond Sock, with Kebba Njie, Juldeh Ceesay, Abdoulie Manneh and Baboucarr Mbaye serving as members.

The Local Government Service Commission is headed by Yankuba Sonko, alongside Abdoulie Sallah, Saffie Lowe-Ceesay and Bahai Hydara.

Speaking at the event, President Barrow said the establishment of the commissions is both relevant and urgent, given their role in improving land administration and governance systems.

He called on the newly appointed commissioners to discharge their duties with diligence, impartiality and professionalism.

On behalf of the commissioners, Ramond Sock and Yankuba Sonko expressed appreciation for the confidence placed in them and pledged to carry out their responsibilities in line with the law.

The President also commended the Ministry of Lands, Regional Governance and Religious Affairs, as well as partners and stakeholders, for their role in developing the land policy and regulatory framework that led to the creation of the commissions.
