Musa Drammeh, Minister of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly Matters, has accused the United Democratic Party (UDP) of entering coalition negotiations from a position of political weakness rather than strategic calculation.
Speaking at a gathering of supporters of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) in Farato Sotokoi Daru, Drammeh argued that the opposition’s push for an alliance contradicts its earlier confidence ahead of the December presidential election.
“They are desperate. If they weren’t, they would not be joining others to form a coalition.
Do not be shaken by this,” he told supporters. The minister pointed to the 2021 presidential election as evidence of the NPP’s electoral strength, noting that Adama Barrow secured a vote share that significantly surpassed the combined total of opposition candidates.
He expressed confidence that the ruling party’s advantage would widen further in the upcoming polls.
Drammeh maintained that even a united opposition front would struggle to unseat the NPP, which he said remains firmly positioned ahead of the next election cycle.
