Under President Adama Barrow’s leadership since 2017, The Gambia has turned a major page in its history, transitioning from 22 years of dictatorship to a promising democratic spring. Freedom of expression and association have become realities, with Gambians no longer afraid to speak openly. Governance reforms have strengthened judicial independence and tackled corruption, restoring public trust in institutions.
This new era also marks a diplomatic breakthrough. Relations with Senegal have flourished, boosted by strategic cooperation across defense, justice, and trade. The completion of the Senegambia Bridge and the creation of bilateral forums have transformed regional integration. Trade between the two nations reached CFA 113 billion in 2023, reflecting their deepening partnership.
