An elderly man has died after being blown into the side of a moving bus by severe winds caused by Storm Desmond.
The 90-year-old was walking along a pavement in Finchley, north London, when he was caught by a gust of wind and blown off the walkway into the side of a moving bus, police said.
A Met Police spokeswoman said: “Police are investigating the death of man who they believe was blown by a gust of wind against the side of a moving bus.
“Police were called by London Ambulance Service at 12:35hrs on Saturday, 5 December, to reports of a collision between a bus and a man at Chaville Way N3, near to Finchley Central station.
“The 90-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene at 13:15hrs.”
His death came at the same time as the Environment Agency issued a massive 31 severe flood warnings, which means they believe lives could be put in danger.
The warnings are in south-west Scotland, the north of England and along the border with England and Wales where the worst weather is, with many areas flooded.
